Me heading straight for the sea…

Last week, on the sunniest day of the year so far, I decamped to the seaside – along with three of the fabulous Stripes crew – for Top Secret And Then We Ran Activities. Well, top secret until now, anyway.

The main purpose for our road trip – other than being the perfect opportunity to listen to the And Then We Ran soundtrack on repeat – was to take some new author photos of me. Given that so much of the book is set in a seaside town, it seemed to make sense. (Also, I had a hankering for the tuppenny falls…)

I did warn them that I have a tendency to fall into large bodies of water, but everyone agreed to keep an eye on me, and I took a change of clothes just in case, and in the end managed to stay dry, despite the large gaps between the boards on the pier…

Anyway, to make the most of the trip, we also decided to do some filming – so watch out for some new videos coming your way very soon, mostly of me waffling on about books and life and stuff while sitting on the aforementioned pier, or in one of several very lovely beach huts.

But back to the point: the photos. The lovely Paul from Stripes took masses of shots of me, while I tried not to laugh too much, or look embarrassed, and while the wind sent my hair flying everywhere and seagulls flew threateningly overhead.

Also, it might have been the sunniest day of the year so far, but that does not mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that it was warm. (We eventually gave up and went for fish and chips around the time my face turned completely blue, and it’s taken until now for me to get full mobility back in my poor, frozen fingers…)

It was all worthwhile, though, as I have a lovely new author headshot (taken in the cafe while waiting for fish and chips and trying to warm up…)
