It’s finally here! After months and months of work, a lot of cake and plenty of nerves, Love, Lies and Lemon Pies is finally (officially) out there in the big world, waiting to be read.

To celebrate, my publisher, Stripes, held a launch party at Waterstones in Hampstead last Thursday – complete with lemon pie, chocolate chip cookies and iced biscuits with character names and such written on them. Even better, the recipes for all the food came from the book itself, deliciously brought to life by Lizzie D’s Bakery. I had a fantastic evening, celebrating with my friends, family, colleagues and some very special book industry people – including the beautiful young lady who plays Lottie on the front cover of the book!

And even more excitingly, the first reviews for Mac and Lottie have started trickling through – and they’re fab! Here are some snippets of my favourites:

Book Trust:

This heart-warming teen love story is as sweet and light as the lemon pie of the title. The romance between quiet perfectionist Lottie and tough but caring Mac is beautifully drawn, and debut author Katy Cannon manages to delicately touch on some difficult issues, without compromising the lightness of the tone.”

The Book Bag:

I was really looking forward to reading Katy Cannon’s debut and it’s a fresh and funny read that doesn’t disappoint.”

Book Passion For Life:

“Thoroughly entertaining and filled with many heart-warming moments Love, Lies and Lemon Piesdelivers in every way!  An inspiring YA contemporary romance story that hits all the right spots and I cannot wait for more from Katy Cannon. “
“Love and baking go hand-in-hand in this emotionally charged YA romance. A touching story about friendship, families, first-love – and lots of tips on good baking!”
And a couple from Goodreads:

The Great British Bake-Off meets The Breakfast Club, this is a delightful, delicious and feather-light YA romance that still manages to deal beautifully with some deep issues. And there’s a fully useable recipe at the beginning of each chapter. What could be better?”

This book sounded exactly like my cup of tea and proved to be a real five star read! Katy Cannon’s next book is out in February 2015 and will be called ‘Secrets, Schemes and Sewing Machines’. It’s already top of my list of books I absolutely need to buy next year.”
