Handy for carrying around files, folders and books – or for keeping folded up in your school or handbag for carrying a spot of impromptu shopping…
Book Bag
Supplies:
Two rectangles of thicker fabric, 45cm x 35cm
Two strips of cotton webbing to complement your fabric, 60cm long
What to do:
Stitch a zig zag stitch around all the edges of your fabric to prevent fraying
Hem the tops of both your rectangles
Pin your webbing in place on the wrong side of your fabric, against the hem, to make handles, with 2.5cm of webbing overlapping the fabric
Stitch the handles in place by sewing a rectangle over each end of the webbing and fabric, then stitching a cross in the middle of that rectangle
Pin your two fabric rectangles together, right sides facing
Stitch all around the three unhemmed sides
Turn your bag the right way out, and fill with books!
